UH's Gibson is second team All-WAC basketball

Matt Gibson was the only player from the University of Hawai'i's men's basketball team to receive recognition on the All-Western Athletic Conference teams released today.

Gibson, a 6-foot-5 senior point guard, was named to the All-WAC second team, as well as the All-Defensive Team.

Gibson leads the Rainbow Warriors with 17.0 points and 5.0 assists per game. He leads the WAC with 1.9 steals per game.

Utah State's Jaycee Carroll was named the WAC Player of the Year. The 6-2 senior guard leads the conference in scoring with 22.7 points per game.

Carroll was joined on the All-WAC first team by Reggie Larry of Boise State, Kevin Bell of Fresno State, Marcelus Kemp of Nevada and Justin Hawkins of New Mexico State.

Greg Graham of Boise State was named the WAC Coach of the Year, and Nevada

guard Armon Johnson was selected the WAC Freshman of the Year.

The WAC's nine head coaches voted for the All-WAC teams.
