UH's Tanya Smith named to All-WAC second team

University of Hawai'i senior forward Tanya Smith today was named to the All-Western Athletic Conference women's basketball second team.

Smith led the Rainbow Wahine with a 12 points-per-game average and 11.8 rebounds per game. She started in all 29 games this season for UH, which finished the regular season 12-17 overall and 6-10 in the WAC.

Smith also was named to the five-player All-Defensive team.

Fresno State's Tierre Wilson was named WAC Player of the Year. Wilson, a 5-8 senior guard from Lawton, Okla., is the second player in Fresno State history to earn the award.

Fresno State's Adrian Wiggins was named WAC Coach of the Year. Wiggins led the Bulldogs to a 14-2 record in WAC play for share of this year's conference regular season championship, the first in school history.

Nevada's Dellena Criner earned the WAC's first-ever Defensive Player of the Year honor. Fresno State's Jaleesa Ross was named the WAC's Newcomer of the Year.
