Meeting on Hawaii Kai bus routes is tonight

Advertiser Staff

The Hawai'i Kai Neighborhood Board is inviting East O'ahu bus riders to its Committee on Transportation meeting from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the Hawai'i Kai Public Library, 249 Lunalilo Home Road.

The meeting is to gather more public reaction to recent East O'ahu bus route changes and to develop recommendations on how to improve or restore TheBus services in East O'ahu. A similar meeting was held last month.

Among the Hawai'i Kai and East O'ahu concerns that will be discussed are:

  • Reduction of service on the No. 80A Hawai'i Kai-University of Hawai'i express route, including the need for service on non-instructional work days and restoration of campus bus stops on East-West Road and Maile Way

  • Reduction of Route No. 23 service to Kalama Valley residents

  • Effectiveness of the new No. 1L (Limited) Downtown/Hawai'i Kai route

  • Effectiveness of the new No. 231 and No. 232 circulator routes in Hawai'i Kai

  • Plans and options to partially restore Hind Drive service in 'Aina Haina and the effects on Hawai'i Kai riders.

Those attending the meeting are asked to park on the street, as the library will be open for regular patrons until 7 p.m. The meeting room doors will open at 5:45 p.m.
