City signs $2.1 million contract to build EMS facility

The city has signed a $2.1 million agreement to build a Emergency Medical Services facility at 1426 Young St., according to a news release.

Two ambulances and and an EMS district chief, and will be stationed there. Currently two temporary trailers are being used to house the units.

"These are some of our busiest EMS units, so this project is very important to public safety," said Emergency Services Department director Elizabeth Char, in a statement. "It will ensure that these vital vehicles are protected, and that we have a safe and durable facility in time of disaster."

Construction is expected to begin in mid-August, but is contingent upon the state's timely release of funding. according to the release. The city's contractor is Okada Trucking Co.
