Health department cites 7 companies, agencies

Seven Hawai'i companies and agencies have been issued notices of violations by the state Department of Health's Clean Air Branch for failing to comply with state and federal standards in 2007.
The companies and organizations are:
• Syngenta Seeds Inc., a seed processing facility in Kekaha, Kaua'i. A penalty of $9,900 was imposed and has been paid for changing the operation of its fumigant chamber without prior notification and approval from the Department of Health.
• Dekalb Genetics Corporation, a seed processing facility in Hanapepe, Kaua'i. A penalty of $5,900 was imposed and has been paid for changing the operation of its fumigant chamber without prior notification and approval from the Department of Health.
• Ameron Hawai'i, a stone processing and concrete batch facility located at Kapa'a Quarry in Kailua, was cited for late submittal of its January to June 2007 semi-annual reports. A penalty of $2,200 has been imposed. Ameron is allowed 20 days to contest the Notice of Violation and Order. If it does, the case will be scheduled for a hearing, health officials said.
• The City and County of Honolulu's Kane'ohe Pretreatment facility was cited for late submittal of its January to June 2007 semi-annual reports. A penalty of $2,400 was imposed and has been paid, health officials said.
• Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company was cited for not submitting semi-annual reports for two different facilities. The company operates stone crushing and portable screening plants at various locations throughout the state and was assessed two penalties of $2,700 each, which have been paid.
• Meadow Gold Dairies, Inc., located on Sheridan Street, was cited for late submittal of its January to June 2007 semi-annual reports. A penalty of $1,900 was imposed and has been paid.
• Pineridge Farms, Inc., which operates stone crushing and processing plants at various locations on O'ahu, was cited for failing to conduct the 2006 annual source performance test and the annual visible emission test. A penalty of $4,800 has been imposed and has been paid.
