Waikiki man facing federal gun, drug charges

A 29-year-old man arrested early Sunday morning by police in Waikiki on suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle will be turned over tomorrow to federal officials for prosecution on drug and firearm charges.

Gregory Francis Ritter of a Niu Street address was arrested at 1:15 a.m. near his residence. A warrant was later obtained to search two bags in Ritter's possession and police found a firearm and drugs.

Ritter was later booked for firearm offenses, including being a felon in possession of a gun and ammnunition, and second- and third-degree promotion of dangerous drugs.

Ritter's case was turned over today to federal prosecutors. He has 17 prior criminal convictions.
