More tips for the International Year of the Reef: Hawai'i is the endangered-species capital of the world. Help by purchasing a specialty license plate for your car that supports the protection of native species. The plate ($30.50) features the native 'ohi'a lehua blossom with an 'i'iwi Hawaiian honeycreeper and the words, "Protect Our Native Species." The state Division of Forestry and Wildlife gets $20 of the cost to support projects relating to Hawai'i's species of greatest conservation need and their habitats; 532-4325.

KEEP IT SIMPLE

CURING CLUTTER'S CHAOS

Organizing guru Rosemary Chieppo, author of "Clutter, Chaos & the Cure," offers these tips for spring cleaning:

  • Start small, to indulge in the victory of completion.

  • Give things a home at the point of their use. You never misplace your toothbrush; you keep it where you use it.

  • Don't put tall things in front of short things and big things on top of little. If you don't see something, it may as well not exist.
