A man carrying what appeared to be an explosive device robbed a Maui bank yesterday of an undisclosed amount of cash.

The robbery at American Savings Bank in Lahaina occurred at 3:19 p.m. No injuries were reported.

The man handed the teller a demand note, police said.

The suspect, who stands about 5-feet-4 and weighs 140 pounds, wore a light green and white aloha shirt with a floral pattern, a Kansas University cap, sunglasses and blue jeans.

Anyone with suspect information should call Maui police at 808-244-6400 or the Lahaina Criminal Investigation Division, 808-661-0559.
