The Rev. Frank A. Chong, government and community relations manager for AlohaCare and the former executive director of the Waikiki Health Center, died Sunday at The Queen's Medical Center, according to family members.

Chong, 63, was an ordained United Church of Christ minister. He was active in public affairs and served on numerous local and national boards.

"Frank tirelessly devoted his life to people who are most often forgotten," said John McComas, AlohaCare chief executive officer, in a written statement to The Advertiser.

Added McComas, "He was the voice of Hawai'i's most fragile and vulnerable citizens. He was the conscience of our community."

Chong's service will be March 19 at Central Union Church's main sanctuary at 5 p.m.

Chong joined AlohaCare in 2003 after 25 years with Waikiki Health Center. He was a founding AlohaCare board member in 1994 and served on the board until 2002.
