'EWA
Medical needles found on beach at Hau Bush

Advertiser Staff

The state Department of Health is trying to trace the origin of syringes that washed ashore last week at Hau Bush, also known as One'ula Beach Park in 'Ewa Beach.

A resident reported finding more syringes yesterday morning, after the city Division of Road Maintenance did a clean-up of the area starting last Wednesday.

Janice Okubo, Department of Health spokesperson, said she was not aware of the new discoveries today. The department is trying to determine whether numbers on the syringes can be traced to a manufacturer.

Residents are asked to call the department's Hazard Evaluation and Emergency Response Office at 586-4249 if any more needles are found.
