Jon Kimura Parker gives Piano Chat on March 19

Visiting pianist Jon Kimura Parker will offer music and conversation with wine on the side at a "Piano Chat" at the Honolulu Design Center Cupola Theatre on Wednesday night, March 19, at 7 p.m..

The informal session, co-sponsored by Chamber Music Hawaii and Honolulu Piano Teachers Association, is a special event of Chamber Music Hawaii's 25th Anniversary Celebration. Parker will perform "Carnival," a solo piano tour de force by Robert Schumann, and then talk story with the audience about preparing such a major work and any other piano-related topics that come up.

Tickets are $15 general and $10 for HPTA members, seniors, students and military. Reservations are suggested and may be secured with credit card by calling the CMH ticket line, 489-5038.

Piano Chat is a preliminary event to Parker's major appearance as guest artist at CMH's 25th Anniversary Gala Concert Friday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m. at Hawaii Theatre. Parker will be heard in Brahms' Piano Quintet in F minor, Op. 34a with the Galliard String Quartet and Beethoven's Quintet for Piano and Winds, Op. 16 with members of the Spring Wind Quintet.
