High-surf advisory for Oahu's north, west shores

A high-surf advisory is currently in effect for the north- and west-facing shores of O'ahu.

Surf along north-facing shores is expected to drop a bit today but will still be running 12 feet to 18 feet, the National Weather Service said.

Surf along west-facing shores is also on the way down, and is expected to be 8 feet to 12 feet today, forecasters said.

The high-surf advisory will remain in effect until 6 p.m. today.

Surf along east- and south-facing shores will likely be 2 feet to 4 feet throughout today.

The current northwest swell will continue to subside through today. The current south swell will also be diminishing through the day. Another northwest swell is due in Sunday, peaking at near advisory levels for the north and west shores. A small to moderate size south swell is slated to arrive Friday
