Looking for sounds? Grinds? Drinks? There's something for everyone

New weekly, semi-weekly and monthly events are sparking the nightscape as local party promoters promise regular gigs featuring everything from super-cheap drinks, upscale sushi and wine-tasting to pupu at midnight, happier-than-usual happy hours and the promise of safety in seedy places.

$2 TUESDAYS

Promoter: Promodomo

When and where: Every Tuesday from 5 p.m. at The O Lounge

What they say we should expect: $2 drinks! Consider your expectations met. Music courtesy of Deejay Betty and DJ Mike D. The party starts early with pau hana pupu specials from 5 to 8 p.m.

CAN'T GET ENOUGH THURSDAYS

Promoter: Pressure Down Systems

When and where: Every Thursday from 5 p.m. at NextDoor

What they say we should expect: Reggae done right and a "happy happy" hour from 5 to 9 p.m. with $3 Red Stripe.

BUDDHA KAHN

Promoter: Architechs Hawaii

When and where: Every first and third Thursday at 10 p.m. at Doraku Sushi

What they say we should expect: An intimate setting, beautiful people, super handsome DJs (Delve1der and DJ XL) spinning the best selections of neo-soul, downtempo, hip-hop and funk.

RE:FRESH

Promoter: Treehaus Productions

When and where: Every Friday at 9 p.m. at Café Che Pasta.

What they say we should expect: The core crew from Get Fresh! Fridays at Indigo refreshing their game. DJs Sovern-T and 45Revolver spin their mix of hip-hop, reggae and dancehall, accompanied by their performing guests.

CANDY BAR

Promoter: Flash and Matty Boy

When and where: Every Friday at 9 p.m. at Pearl (tonight is launch night)

What they say we should expect: What else? Mash-up, house and hip-hop, dancers (all female, naturally) and an enforced dress code. For a new twist on a standard, local drummer Justin James will provide live percussion every week.

CHOOSE 80S NIGHT

Promoter: Joe Agogo and Dougie

When and where: Every second, third and fourth Friday at 9 p.m. at Mall Cafe (formerly Club Pauahi)

What they say we should expect: Anything '80s from pop to electro, with resident DJs Dallas (a Pink Caddy fave), DJ Shadowfaxxx and Dougie. Oh, one more thing: Club Pauahi's reputation for being ... um ... seedy, has apparently changed along with the name.

ARE YOU EXPERIENCED?

Promoter: Nick's Fishmarket and Underground Couture

When and where: Every second and fourth Friday at 6 p.m. at Nick's Fishmarket

What they say we should expect: A wine-tasting experience that's also a club event. Start with a six-course wine-tasting ($35 per person, with a pupu buffet) at 6 p.m. and stick around until the party starts at 10 p.m. that features a rotating roster of musical guests.

SUPPER CLUB

Promoter: Flash and Matty Boy

When and where: Every second and fourth Friday at 9 p.m. at Doraku Sushi

What they say we should expect: Late-night noshing to the slick beats of house music. It's like dinner, only better.

CHINA BEACH

Promoter: Double-O-Spot

What they say we should expect: Quiksilva and G-Spot bringing it like they always do.

ART SCHOOL

Promoter: Joe Agogo and Joy Productions

When and where: Every first Friday at 9 p.m. at Mall Cafe (formerly Club Pauahi)

What they say we should expect: If it's mod, you'll hear it here. With DJs Vagina and Dougie.

EMPIRE

Promoter: Double-O-Spot

When and where: Every Saturday at 9 p.m. at Lotus Soundbar (tomorrow night is launch night)

What they say we should expect: A "unique, banging club experience," courtesy of the guys who brought us Juicy (remember the Maze?) plus four rooms of house, breaks, electro, drum-n-bass, hip-hop, soul, dancehall and retro classics

IMAGE

Promoter: Partymasters Hawaii

When and where: Every second and fourth Saturday at 9:30 p.m. at Nick's Fishmarket

What they say we should expect: All-night drink specials. Enough said.
