It's Pink Night tickets on sale soon

By Wayne Harada

Tickets for It's Pink Night, the Boz Scaggs concert set for May 11 (Mother's Day) at the fabled Pink Palace, The Royal Hawaiian hotel, will go on sale Monday. The event is the nightcap for the 2008 Hawai'i Romance Festival and will benefit the Queen's Cancer Center.

The gala offers dinner-with-show and show-only options.

Dinner will be in the Pink Palace's Monarch Room, with music arranged by Matt Catingub, conductor of the Matt Catingub Orchestra of Hawai'i and maestro of a series of romance-themed concerts that comprise the festival beginning May 2.

A "Think Pink" fashion show, including pink clothing, accessories and jewelry, will be presented, with items auctioned off to benefit the Cancer Center.

Following dinner, guests will assemble in the Coconut Grove for the Scaggs performance.

"It's Pink Night at The Royal will not only feature one of the greatest entertainers from the '70s and '80s — who brings to the event such memories as the platinum-selling 'Lido Shuffle,' 'We're All Alone,' 'Lowdown,' 'Harbor Lights,' and more; but the evening will also benefit a great cause." said Allen Sviridoff, co-founding partner of the festival, in a statement.

This will be the last benefit event at The Royal Hawaiian hotel before it undergoes a seven-month renovation and rebranding.

Dinner will be at 5:30 p.m., with the concert set for 7:30 p.m.

The meal-show package is $250 per person, with premium tables available; concert-only admission will be $150 and $95.

For reservations, call 545-7664 or see www.hawaiiromancefestival.com.

Festival concert details are also available at the Web site.
