BYUH, Chaminade to meet in NCAA regional semifinal

The Brigham Young-Hawai'i men's basketball team will meet Chaminade in today's 3 p.m. semifinals of the NCAA Division II West Region Championship after both teams won their first-round matches yesterday in Anchorage, Alaska.

Today's game will be aired by KUMU, 1500 AM.

No. 7-seeded Brigham Young-Hawai'i upset No. 2-seeded Cal State San Bernardino, 67-63, behind Lucas Alves' 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Jermaine Odjegba had 16 points and Paul Peterson added 12 points for the Seasiders (19-7). Corey Nielson had eight assists in the win.

Stewart Kussler scored 17 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to help No. 3-seeded Chaminade defeat No. 6-seeded Humboldt State, 68-60.

The Silverswords (21-7) were led by Marko Kolaric (15 points, 12 rebounds) and Hayden Heiber (12 points, 8 assists).

It is the first time the Silverswords have advanced to the semifinals. The region final is scheduled for Monday.
