The "clinic on wheels," which cost $100,000, features a private room with an exam table, a patient waiting area, a reception table, a bathroom and is wheelchair accessible. The clinic will allow the Waikiki Care-A-Van, which is run through the health center and provides services to homeless islandwide, to expand its medical outreach programs and its health screening offerings.

A blessing ceremony for the mobile clinic starts at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Kaka'ako Waterfront Park in the Ohe Street parking lot.

Tours of the mobile clinic will follow. The public is invited.

The clinic was paid for by federal funds and private grants.

Waikiki Care-A-Van has been providing outreach services to Oahu's homeless population since 1987.

Until now, the program has relied on mini-vans to bring medical and social services to homeless around O'ahu.
