A Big Island man has been indicted on a charge of assaulting a Kona police patrolman in an incident on Oct. 28.

Ueta Shiro Palik was indicted by a Kona grand jury last week on charges of first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer and failure to disburse when police tried to break up a crowd on Oct. 28.

According to the indictment, Palik allegedly injured Officer Calvin Delaries in the scuffle. If convicted, Palik could get up to five years in prison.
