In what a prosecutor termed a "horrible and disturbing" set of crimes, Danny F. Friddle, 30, was indicted this morning on charges of sexually molesting his daughter over a two-year period that began virtually the day the baby was born.

Friddle was also indicted as a parent or legal guardian on felony charges of promoting child abuse because he videotaped his assaults of the victim.

"It's one thing to rape a child," First Deputy Prosecutor Douglas Chin said. "It's an entirely different thing to film it."

Chin called the allegations against Friddle "something very horrible and disturbing to occur in our community."

Circuit Judge Derrick Chan set Friddle's bail at $100,000. The defendant has been in custody since his arrest last week by Honolulu police officers. Friddle came to Hawai'i while in the military in 2003 and most recently worked with a private security guard company,

He is charged as a parent or legal guardian with eight counts of first degree sexual assault of a child, three counts of third-degree sex assault of a child and two counts of promoting child abuse.
