Filipino groups to host 'Pabasa' Good Friday event

Advertiser Staff

Tomorrow, on Good Friday, several organizations will host "Pabasa," a Filipino traditional reading in a rhyming fashion or song of a book about Jesus written in Tagalog. The free event is at Hawaii's Plantation Village.

The chants usually differ, depending on participants' regions.

Beginning at 9 a.m. and continuing into the evening, there will be makeshift altar in the Social Hall, praying of the rosary, and a waiting area for fellowship of all participants. Snacks and food will also be provided for participants as a gesture of caridad (charity).
