Episcopal bishop to give Punchbowl sunrise talk

Bishop Robert L. Fitzpatrick, of the Episcopal Diocese of Hawaii, will deliver the Easter message at the 107th Annual Easter Ecumenical Sunrise Service, to be held at the National Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl.

The service begins at 6:15 a.m. Sunday. Music will be provided by The Royal Hawaiian Band and the Rev. Kekapa Lee.

Parking is available in the crater. Gates open at 4:30 am. TheBus will run shuttles at 5 a.m. and 5:20 a.m.. departing Monsarrat Avenue, with stops along Kuhio Avenue, Kalakaua Avenue, and the Alapai Terminal, before heading to Punchbowl Crater. Return buses follow the regular No. 2 route to Waikiki (384-8701 for bus information).

The Easter Sunrise Offering this year will go to support the Waianae Homeless Project at Uluwehi by The Hawaii Coalition of Christian Churches.

A supplemental grant by the Hawaii Council of Churches will be made to the Counseling and Spiritual Care Center of Hawaii for their healing role in Hawaii.
