KAILUA
Maintenance help at xeriscape garden sought

Advertiser Staff

Volunteers are welcome to help maintain the Hawaiian xeriscape garden from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Kawainui Neighborhood Park at the mauka end of Kaha Street.

Ahahui Malama i ka Lokahi will lead the effort, which includes help from the Women's Community Correctional Center in Kailua.

The garden was funded by the Kailua Bay Advisory Council as a demonstration project for native plants in a xeriscape setting.

Maintenance is done on the garden on the fourth Saturday of each month. Volunteers should bring weeders, gloves, water, snack or lunch and wear comfortable work clothing.
