What is your biggest challenge? " Every school faces some kind of challenges, but ours are perhaps compounded by the fact that we're a smaller Neighbor Island school with possibly less access to some resources than may be available to others," Suzuki said. "Nonetheless, I feel one challenge, or responsibility, (is) to continue to find ways to engage students in higher-level thinking opportunities, thereby preparing them for post-secondary education or employment given resources available."

History: The first ninth-grade class was established in 1921. The school operated on a schedule known as the coffee schedule in which students were allowed to take their summer vacation September through November to allow them to help in the harvesting of coffee.
