Eggs and things highlight the day before Easter

Tomorrow is Easter Sunday, a most holy day in Christianity, a colorful celebration of spring in the secular world.

And sometimes the twain shall meet, at events such as the Eggstravaganza Family Fair at Koolau! at the First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu at Koolau, 45-550 Ki'ona'ole Road. It happens from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today and includes music, food and an Easter egg hunt. Admission is free and all are welcome. 532-1111.

Then there's an egg hunt, with puppet show, at 10 a.m. today at Waimanalo Elementary School. It's sponsored by King's Cathedral and is free. 373-7416.

And there's the Easter Eggstravaganza, with egg hunt, crafts and more, 1 to 3 p.m. today at Mililani Mauka Elementary School. It's sponsored by The Gathering church and is free. 625-9355.

Other Easter events today:

  • The Easter Bunny will be available for visits from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mililani Shopping Center, next to Maui Tacos. Free; 623-2871.

  • A book fair fundraiser and Easter egg hunt, benefiting Queen Lili'uokalani Elementary, happens from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Barnes & Noble, Kahala Mall. Free admission; 371-7574.

  • Windward Mall hosts that very busy Easter Bunny (photos for a fee); and the free Bunnyland, where bunnies, chicks, pot-belly pigs, birds and guinea pigs will prompt those "Oooohhh, so cute!" squeals. www.windwardmall.com.

  • Pearlridge (Downtown) also has an Easter Bunny during center hours. It's free to visit; or, if you choose, professional photos can be taken for a fee. 488-0981.
