Roadwork resumes around Oahu

The State Department of Transportation has announced several road projects around O'ahu this week, except for Wednesday, in observance of the Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalaniana'ole Day state holiday.

H-1 FREEWAY

KAPOLEI TO KUNIA

Single-lane closures in the east-bound direction between the Makakilo and Kunia Interchanges through Tuesday and Thursday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for lane striping.

KAPOLEI TO PEARL CITY (night work)

Multiple-lane closures in the east-bound direction from Kapolei to Pearl City on Monday night through Friday morning, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. for lane striping and pavement marker installations.

WAIKELE TO WAIPAHU (night work)

Lane closures in the west-bound direction from the H-1/H-2 separation to the Paiwa Street on-ramp at the following dates and times:

  • Two right-most lanes will be closed through Tuesday morning, from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.

  • One right-most lane will be closed on Thursday night through Friday morning from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.

    During these hours, the Waikele/Waipahu off-ramp (Exit 7) to Paiwa Street will also be closed. West-bound motorists are advised to use the earlier Waipahu off-ramp (Exit 8B) and surface streets such as Kamehameha Highway, Farrington Highway or Waipahu Street as alternate routes.

    H-2 FREEWAY

    HONOLULU-BOUND MEHEULA PARKWAY ON-RAMP

    Right lane of the south-bound on-ramp from Meheula Parkway will be closed through Tuesday and Thursday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for pavement repairs and lane striping.

    FARRINGTON HIGHWAY

    WAIALUA, NANAKULI TO MAKAHA

    Single-lane closures in both directions through Tuesday and Thursday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, at the following locations:

  • From Nanakuli to Makaha between Haleakala Avenue and Lawaia Street for various contractor permit projects including electrical pole replacements and installations of water mains, communications lines and manholes.

  • Near the Hawaiian Electric Co. Kahe Power Plant for guardrail repairs.

  • In Waialua, from Kaena Point to Kaukonahua Road, for lane striping and marker installations.

    KAHEKILI HIGHWAY

    KANEOHE

    Left-lane closures between Kulukeoe Street and Ha'iku Road in both directions through Tuesday and Thursday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, for the removal of existing drainage systems and water line adjustments.

    KALANIANA'OLE HIGHWAY

    NEAR CASTLE JUNCTION

    Right-lane closure in the Kailua-bound direction between Castle Junction and Kapa'a Quarry Road through Tuesday and Thursday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., daily, for erosion control work.

    Work and lane closures are scheduled at this site on weekdays through May 2008. Project contractor Prometheus Construction will be anchoring mesh safety netting to the adjacent hillside to stabilize the slope.

    OLOMANA

    Right and shoulder lane closures in the Kaneohe-bound direction between Flamingo Street near the Olomana Golf Course and Kailua Road near the Castle Medical Center through Tuesday and Thursday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., daily, for guardrail repairs.

    KAMEHAMEHA HIGHWAY

    PEARL CITY TO 'AIEA

    Mobile single lane closures in both directions from Waihona Street in Pearl City to McGrew Loop in 'Aiea through Tuesday and Thursday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., daily, for roving pothole repairs.

    MILILANI TO WHEELER AAF

    South-bound traffic will be contraflowed using the north-bound lanes between Lehua Road and Waikalani Drive through Tuesday and Thursday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. through 3 p.m., daily.

    24-hour lane closures will also be in effect, seven-days-a-week at the following locations:

  • Right lane closure in the north-bound direction between Lehua Road and Kahelu Avenue.

  • Left- and right-lane closures in the south-bound direction between Santos Dumont Avenue and Waihau Street.

    Portable concrete barriers will be closing these lane segments for shoulder widening and curb construction.

    LIKELIKE HIGHWAY

    UPPER KALIHI AREA

    Right-lane closure in the Honolulu-bound direction between the Wilson Tunnel and Valley View Drive through Tuesday and Thursday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., daily, for roadside tree-trimming.

    ALA MOANA BOULEVARD

    DOWNTOWN TO ALA MOANA (night work)

    Multiple lane closures in both directions from Fort Street to Pi'ikoi Street through Tuesday morning, and on Wednesday night through Friday morning, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., nightly, for the installation of vehicle detectors, manhole covers and pavement striping.

    FORT WEAVER ROAD

    NEAR AAWA DRIVE

    Single-lane closures on Fort Weaver Road in both directions between Aawa Drive and Laulaunui Street through Tuesday and Thursday through Friday, at the following locations and times.

  • Intermittent single lane closures in the southbound direction between Laulaunui Street and the Honouliuli Stream Bridge from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for traffic signal conduit and irrigation line installations.

  • Intermittent right-lane closure in the north-bound direction from Aawa Drive to the Honouliuli Stream Bridge from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for drainage system construction.

    PU'ULOA ROAD

    MAPUNAPUNA

    Various lane closures on Pu'uloa Road between Kamehameha Highway and Salt Lake Boulevard through Tuesday and Thursday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, at the following locations:

  • Shoulder lanes in both directions closed. Roadside parking will not be permitted.

  • Modified traffic pattern is in effect on Mokumoa Street between Puuloa Road and Mapunapuna Street for drainage work. No large vehicles are allowed through this area. One lane of travel in each direction is available for cars.

    PAIWA STREET

    NEAR H-1 FREEWAY

    Various lane closures in both directions near the H-1 Freeway on-and-off-ramps on Monday through Tuesday and on Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 3: p.m., daily, for manhole and utility adjustments.
