A Makiki Heights man arrested in Kailua yesterday on suspicion of stealing items from an unattended vehicle was charged today by prosecutors with six felony offenses.

Shane Kealii Kaui II, 39, of a Maunalaha Road address, was charged with second-degree identity theft, unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, unauthorized possession of confidential personal information, second-degree theft, fraudulent use of a credit card, and credit card theft.

Kaui's bail totals $50,000. He is being held at the main police station cellblock until his initial appearance Thursday at District Court.

Kaui was arrested by plainclothes Crime Reduction Unit officers from Windward O'ahu and East Honolulu conducting a surveillance operation at 130 Kailua Road. The officers allegedly saw Kaui taking items from a car. He was arrested at 573 Kailua Road. at 3:10 p.m.

Four charges were added on to UEMV and unauthorized possession of confidential information at booking allegedly based on evidence recovered in his possession.

At 4:05 p.m. today, a bail company pulled back the $50,000 bond it posted for Kaui for 2007 offenses.
