Molokai boy, 16, is Maui County's 5th traffic fatality

A 16-year-old boy injured in a single-car crash early Saturday morning on Moloka'i died today at The Queen's Medical Center.

Maui police identified the victim as Nakai'imoku Acasio of Ho'olehua. Acasio died at 5:10 p.m.

Police said Acasio was driving a stolen car which crashed on Kamehameha V Highway near Mile Post 3.8 in Kawela at 4:50 a.m.

Three other juvenile males, ages 14, 15 and 16, from Kualapu'u were treated at Moloka'i General Hospital and released.

The death is Maui County's fifth traffic fatality of the year as compared to four on the same date in 2007

As of today, 30 people have died statewide in traffic accidents as compared to 37 on this date in 2007.
