A 59-year-old Hilo woman killed Tuesday in a two-vehicle collision in Kona was identified yesterday by Big Island police as Maydell Uilani Perreira.

Perreira died at 10:44 a.m. at Kona Community Hospital, nearly four hours after the 2005 Kia sedan she was driving crossed the center line and collided with a 2006 Kenworth concrete truck on Hawai'i Belt Road (Route 11), three-tenths of a mile south of the 99-mile marker.

The fatality was the Big Island's 10th in 2008, one more than on the same date last year.
