Conference on language access to be held at East-West Center

Advertiser Staff

The Office of Language Access will hold the "Hawaii Conference on Language Access" today and tomorrow at the East-West Center, on the campus of the University of Hawaii-Manoa.

The conference will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, and will bring together experts, administrators, public access service providers, interpreters, translators, and university students from Hawaii and across the nation.

Attendees will be educated in various language access laws, issues, policies, and best practices. The purpose is to create better understanding of language access to ensure that people with limited English proficiency will receive better access to services from government and non-profit agencies throughout Hawaii.

For more information contact Jeremy Low with the Office of Language Access at 586-8737 or Jeremy.D.Low@hawaii.gov.
