Police officer assaulted in Waikiki

A 28-year-old man was arrested early today in Waikiki for allegedly punching one man and assaulting a police officer.

The man was booked for first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, second-degree assault and three counts of harassment at 12:30 a.m.

The suspect allegedly punched a 19-year-old man in the jaw, causing the victim to lose a tooth, and elbowed a police officer three times from kneeing him in the face.

The suspect has 26 prior convictions, according to Hawai'i Criminal Justice Data Center records.
