Fund set up to help kids who lost parents in murder-suicide

Advertiser Staff

A special donation fund has been established with Bank of Hawaii for four children who were left without parents following a domestic dispute in 'Ewa Beach late Friday night in which the children's mother and father both died.

Honolulu Police Department investigators have described the incident as a murder-suicide in which a 39-year-old man shot and killed his wife, then turned the gun on himself. According to neighbors who have spoken with the family, the couple's son and three daughters are being cared for by relatives.

Authorities have so far not identified the victim or suspect, pending positive identification, but neighbors and public records have named the couple as Domingo "Bunny" Dikito and Della Dikito, who lived at 91-1635 Kaukolu St., where the shootings took place.

Following autopsies of the bodies, the Honolulu medical examiner's office yesterday listed the woman's death as a homicide due to multiple gunshot wounds that caused fatal injuries to the heart, liver and lungs; the man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Monetary donations to the Dikito Children's Special Fund may be dropped off at any Bank of Hawaii branch in the state, bank officials said.
