Lingle to attend conference in Jerusalem

Gov. Linda Lingle is planning to attend a conference in Jerusalem that is expected to include former Russian leader Mikhail Gorbachev and U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.

The governor says the conference, entitled "Facing Tomorrow," will look at how the global future is envisioned in different parts of the world. Leaders will discuss challenges facing the world, she says.

Lingle has been invited by Israeli President Shimon Peres.

Also expected to be on the agenda are discussions about Jewish contributions to humanity and the future of the Middle East.

The governor plans to participate in 11 panel discussions, including "Sixty Years of Friendship - the U.S. and Israel" and "The Future of the World Economy.
