Punahou, Kauai earn top seeds for state baseball tourney

Punahou, the Interscholastic League of Honolulu champion, received the top seed and a first-round bye in the state baseball tournament.

Four-time defending state champion Punahou earned the top seed for this week's Hawai'i High School Athletic Association state baseball tournament.

The Buffanblu, Interscholastic League of Honolulu champions, earned a first-round bye and open play on Thursday at Les Murakami Stadium. Pearl City is seeded second, followed by Waiakea and Maui.

First-round play begins on Wednesday at Les Murakami Stadium. The championship game is Saturday.

In the inaugural Division II tournament, Kaua'i Interscholastic Federation champion Kaua'i received the top seed. Maui Interscholastic League champion St. Anthony is seeded second, followed by Waipahu and Honoka'a.

First-round play begins on Wednesday at Patsy T. Mink Central O'ahu Regional Park. The championship game is Saturday at Les Murakami Stadium.
