Waikiki Aquarium to train volunteers

Advertiser Staff

The Waikiki Aquarium is gearing up to train volunteers to answer visitor questions about Hawai'i's marine life and explain various habitats and species found within exhibits.

The training class will meet 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays, beginning May 13. Upon completion of training on May 29, volunteers work a two-hour shift once a week for a minimum six months.

Founded in 1904 and administered by the University of Hawai'i since 1919, the Waikiki Aquarium, the third oldest in the United States, has more than 500 marine species and 3,000 marine specimens. More than 300,000 visitors are admitted annually.
