Eames and Kinard — who are teammates for Hui Lanakila Canoe Club — will be one of the top teams in the female division.

They will represent Imi Hale, which is a program aimed at reducing the incidence of cancer among Native Hawaiians. They are also trying to raise awareness for breast cancer prevention.

Around 250 paddlers are expected to participate in today's 40.2-mile race. It will start at 8 a.m. at Kaluako'i Beach, Moloka'i, and the first finishers are expected to reach Magic Island, O'ahu, around 1:30 p.m.

Omalza walked to lead off the eighth, advanced to third on a ground out and throwing error, and scored on the errant pitch for HPU (31-18-1).

In the first game, Thomas Brown III had two run-scoring singles and Dayne Ogawa added another RBI hit as the Vulcans (15-27) held off HPU, 3-2.
