Earning degrees now more affordable

Advertiser Staff

A new dual-enrollment, dual-admission program called Mananawai will allow UH West O'ahu and Kapi'olani Community College students to complete their university degree more quickly and more affordable, the school announced yesterday.

The partnership between the two institutions allows students to enroll at both campuses and work toward the completion of a baccalaureate degree.

Students may enroll in the Mananawai partnership in two ways:

1. Students admitted to UH West O'ahu may declare Kapi'olani CC as their home campus and enroll in courses at Kapi'olani CC paying the community college tuition rate; or

2. After earning 24 credits and maintaining a 2.0 GPA at Kapi'olani CC, students who are accepted as UH West O'ahu transfers may continue to take applicable courses at Kapi'olani CC, attending classes at the community college tuition rate.

Once admitted to this program, students may enroll in courses at either campus, paying the applicable tuition rate seamlessly.

Mananawai is the second dual-enrollment and dual-admission agreement established by Kapi'olani CC. A similar agreement, named Ka'ie'ie, was established with UH Manoa last year.

For more information about Mananawai, contact Kapi'olani CC Interim Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Louise Pagotto at 734-9517 or the UH West O'ahu Student Services Office at 454-4700 or toll free at (866) 299-8656.
