Hawaiian Telcom has selected a company from Saipan to provide directory assistance service for its local residential and business customers.

The state's largest phone company said that Pacific Telecom Inc. has replaced Metro One Telecommunications, which announced in March that it was exiting the directory assistance business.

Hawaiian Telcom said the transition to the new provider will be completed in the next 60 days. PTI is based in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
