Punahou girls, Moanalua's Merkle win state golf titles

The Punahou girls golf team won today's Hawai'i High School Athletic Association girls golf championship at Wailua Municipal Golf Course on Kaua'i.

The Buffanblu finished with a two-round total of 441, 17 shots better than second-place Waiakea.

Moanalua junior Kristina Merkle, the O'ahu Interscholastic Champion, won the girls individual title. She shot a 75 to finish at 146, one shot better than defending champion Anna Jang of Punahou and Waiakea's Britney Yada.
