Hawaiian Telcom announced today that Eric Yeaman has been named president and chief executive officer of the company, succeeding Stephen Cooper.

Yeaman, formerly the senior executive vice president and chief operating officer of Hawaiian Electric Co., also has been appointed to Hawaiian Telcom's board of directors, the company said in a news release. He will assume his new position in mid-June.

Walter Dods Jr., who has served on Hawaiian Telcom's board since May 2005, has been named nonexecutive chairman of the board effective immediately, succeeding Daniel Akerson.
