Gusty weather likely to last into next week

Trade winds will continue to blow across the state into the early part of next week, the National Weather Service said.

The trades will continue to be rather strong and gusty today.

Showers will primarily affect the windward and mauka areas of most islands, with some shower activity being carried over to the leeward sides of the smaller islands by the strong trades.

Isolated showers will also be possible during the afternoon and early evening hours over the leeward side of the Big Island.

Here's a more detailed forecast for the next few days:

Today: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 83. Breezy, with a east wind around 22 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight: Scattered showers, mainly before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. East wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Saturday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 84. East wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday Night: Scattered showers, mainly before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. East wind around 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Sunday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 83. East wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday Night: Scattered showers, mainly before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 69. East wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
