Punahou, Saint Louis advance to DI state baseball title game

Advertiser Staff

Four-time defending state champion Punahou wanted no part of another weeknight drama, blanking Maui High, 9-0, tonight in the Wally Yonamine Foundation Baseball Championship semifinals.

Jeremy Fujimoto pitched a three-hitter with nine strikeouts and no walks for the No. 1 seed and Interscholastic League of Honolulu champ Buffanblu, who improved to 15-5-1 in the regular and postseason.

Punahou will face unseeded Saint Louis, which beat No. 2 Pearl City, 2-1, in tonight's second semifinal, in tomorrow's title game at Les Murakami Stadium.

The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be televised live statewide on OC16.

DIVISION II: Kaua'i, St. Anthony advance

In the Division II tournament, top-seeded Kaua'i shut out Moloka'i, 8-0, to reach the championship game. The Red Raiders will face St. Anthony of Maui, which beat Kalaheo, 11-5, in the other semifinal at Central O'ahu Regional Park.

Kaua'i and St. Anthony will play at 4 p.m. tomorrow at Les Murakami Stadium. The game will be televised live on OC16.
