Designers show off tonight for Candy Bar

Five Hawai'i fashion designers will showcase looks from their latest collections as part of the Candy Bar party at Pearl Ultralounge, 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. tonight, sponsored by the Hawai'i Fashion Incubator (Hifi) to celebrate the kickoff of its official membership program.

Designers being showcased are: Tobyp by Toby Portner, with womenswear in playfully mixed prints, State of Mind by Katie Bodnyk, with long and short dresses fashioned from vintage silk scarves, Herban Development by John Harper, an eco-conscious brand of hemp T-shirts, tank tops and hoodies, KariJane Threads by Jodi Salmonson, a fun and beachy collection of dresses and separates, and Zsuzsa B. Jewelry by Zsuzsa Bakonyi-Rodgers, with one-of-a-kind earrings, necklaces and bracelets using semi-precious stones and intricate wire work.

The fashion show begins at 10:30 tonight; $10 at the door, with a reduced cover charge for Hifi members. To join Hifi, go to www.hawaiifashion.org or visit Hifi's membership table. Limited edition Hifi T-shirts designed by Kealopiko will also be available for purchase in men's and women's styles.

Candy Bar is a weekly Friday night event organized by Flash & Matty Boy Productions. Tonight's event features DJ Eskae from Nocturnal Sound Krew and a guest from L.A., RaviDrums. RaviDrums remixes music live on the drums and percussion and has performed at fashion week events around the country, as well as at the Sundance Film Festival.

SUGAR AND SPICE

Here's an opportunity for mothers and daughters to spend some quality time together at a sweet and civilized tea party. Add to the dainty finger sandwiches and pastries a fun and feminine fashion show presented by Cinnamon Girl and you're got a recipe for a pre-Mother's Day treat.

Teach your little girl to enjoy the finer things in life, with style, at the "Sugar and Spice Mother Daughter Tea" from 1 to 4 p.m. tomorrow on the beachfront Veranda at the Moana Surfrider. GET READY FOR 'SEX AND THE CITY'

It's time for martinis and Manolos as Pearl Ultralounge and Skyy Vodka celebrate the highly anticipated motion picture release of "Sex and the City."

Every Thursday in May, the hot spot will screen a season of the show's fashionable fab four. The TVs will be turned on at 8 p.m., and at 9 p.m. there will be a chance to win prizes including gift certificates, shoes and tickets to the official Skyy Vodka "Sex and the City" New York premiere party for you and your gal pals. ECKO UNLTD. OPENS AT PEARLRIDGE

Edgy, urban fashion designer Marc Ecko has opened his first Hawai'i retail location at Pearlridge Center, on the second floor of Uptown. The 4,490-square-foot store carries a full range of ecko unltd. merchandise, including men's apparel, footwear and watches. Expect skate- and street-inspired fashions and shoes, shoes, shoes.

Marc Ecko founded ecko unltd., with its iconic rhino logo, in 1993. The umbrella company, Marc Ecko Enterprises, also produces Marc Ecko, Cut and Sew, Zoo York, Avirex and Red, as well as Complex magazine.
