Uh-oh. Mother's Day is Sunday and no gift or remembrance yet? That's OK. We're here to help with some ideas that work for any budget:

  • Create a card just for her. Try your hand at watercolor painting or a drawing of her pet.

  • Not artistic? How about recording a card or CD with a song that has special meaning for you both?

  • If you're not feeling creative at crunch time, pick up a handkerchief greeting card at Place, a Design Atelier by Philpotts, 40 S. School St. Mom can hold the hankie as a keepsake.

  • Fragrance makes a perfect Mother's Day gift, whether you want to stay with a revered classic such as Chanel No. 5, Fracas or L'Air du Temps, or introduce her to a new scent. We love Prada's latest, Infusion d'Iris. In time for Mother's Day, Prada introduced a fabulous set with cologne, body lotion, soaps and a funnel and mini-bottle so she can carry it with her everywhere.

  • Ethnic jewelry is a huge trend this summer, so why not treat Mom to a belt, ring, bracelet or necklace from some exotic locale? We found some steals at Place.

  • How about a beauty-related book she would appreciate but might not buy for herself?

  • A fresh new lipstick or lip gloss to jump-start her summer look might be just what she wants. Or how about a bronzer or self-tanner for the mom who never has time to go to the beach?

  • Scour her boudoir and find out what skincare she needs. Either go with her old tried-and-true regimen or introduce her to a new one. You'll find options at a wide range of companies and prices.

  • Maybe a spa day is not in your budget, but a spa service she can do at home, such as a peel or facial, is. Offer to be her spa assistant for a day, giving her a massage, drawing her a bath, preparing the steam for her facial, providing the sliced cucumbers for her tired eyes.

  • A keepsake piece of jewelry is ideal to provide lasting memories. Tiffany & Co. has a classic collection of locket charms, in contoured heart and oval shapes, sterling silver or gold, at $250 to $525. Engrave the outside with her initial or a date, and place a precious photo inside.

  • Cartier's Love Bracelet is a lifetime treasure. You can even lock her into it with its own screwdriver. This one, in gold with diamonds, is sold at Cartier boutiques in Ala Moana Center or the Royal Hawaiian Center.

  • Prefer not to buy a gift? How about making up a gift certificate for a service you can offer? Try six car washes, or four home-cooked meals (you cook, of course). Or commit to taking her shopping for a challenging item such as a pair of jeans, sunglasses or a swimsuit, offering your expert eye to help her with her selection.

  • A lei, bouquet or box of chocolates is always welcome.
