National Police Week starts today

Advertiser Staff

Today marks the start of National Police Week, which is being celebrated across the country through Saturday.

"Police Week is a time to reflect on the sacrifices our law enforcement officers have made for our communities, those who have died in the line of duty and those who continue to protect our community on a daily basis," Kaua'i Police Chief Darryl Perry said in a released statement.

During the Police Week celebration, the Kauai police department is offering the opportunity to tour police headquarters and the Incident Command Vehicle, meet police officers and learn first-hand about the Kaua'i Police Department's day-to-day operations.

An open house is scheduled on Thursday from 10 am to 4:30 pm.

Other police week activities include:

  • Proclamation Ceremony, Monday, 8:30 a.m., Lihu'e Civic Center, rotunda

  • Memorial Services, Monday, 6 p.m., Holy Family Church on O'ahu

  • Employee Appreciation Day, Wednesday, 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
