Surf better suited for snorkeling today

Advertiser Staff

Some trade wind swells are raising surf to 3 feet to 5 feet along east shores today, but the rest of the Hawaiian Islands will see surf better suited for snorkeling than surfing.

Surf will be 1 foot to 3 feet along north and south shores and isn't expected to top 2 feet along west shores through tonight, the National Weather Service said.

The trade wind swell affecting eastern shores will lower during the first part of the week. A new north-northwest swell will arrive Wednesday followed by a larger one that may reach the high-surf advisory threshold of 15-foot surf on north-facing shores by Thursday.
