Red Cross responds to fire on Big Island

Advertiser Staff

American Red Cross volunteers are responding to a fire reported in Ocean View Estates this morning.

One home on Aloha Drive was affected by the fire as of 3:45 a.m. Cause of the fire hasn't been determined and no other information is currently available.

The Red Cross will meet with the home's occupants this morning to ensure their immediate emergency needs for shelter, food and clothing are met.

The Red Cross encourages all families to make a disaster plan to include an evacuation plan with two different routes of escape, a communications plan to help families reconnect after disaster and a disaster supplies kit that is readily available to aid in a quick evacuation. Information on developing a family plan is available to the public at www.redcross.org, or a brochure can be requested by calling 734-2101.
