Ocean rockets: Fair Wind catamaran Hula Kai's Sea Rockets are underwater propulsion vehicles designed for the advanced snorkeler who seeks an easier mode of free-diving to get a closer look at marine life in Kona waters. Sea Rockets enable guests to cover vast underwater areas in a short time, seeing extensive underwater topography along with Hawai'i's moray eels, octopus, triggerfish, yellow tang and eagle rays.

Hula Kai, a 55-foot Technicraft power catamaran, features upper- and lower-deck shade covers, stadium-style seating, freshwater showers, gourmet meals, a Bose sound system, and snorkel and new Scuba Pro gear all on board. Sea Rocket tours are guided, and instruction is included with every tour. Minimum age is 18. Cost: $50 per half-hour. Daily sign-ups available at check-in and on Hula Kai. www.fair-wind.com.

Surf lesson: At the Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa, guests can learn about Duke Kahanamoku, the father of modern-day surfing, in "Surfing 101." The 30-minute "talk story" session includes a historical overview of Duke Kahanamoku and ends with a brief demonstration of surfing techniques by one of two noted watermen, Clyde Aikau or Errol Kane Jr., 11 a.m. daily at the lagoon.

Pamper Mom: JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa at Ko Olina's Kama'aina Mother's Day package includes a mountain-view room, self or valet parking for one vehicle, and 15 percent off spa services. Rates start at $278 per room per night, through May; for Hawai'i residents only.

The Ihilani Spa's Love for Mom program includes a 25-minute Ihilani Sea Salt Glo and a relaxing 50-minute Milk and Honey Moisturizing Wrap. Mom will have all-day access to the spa, including the relaxation lounge, dry cedar sauna, eucalyptus steam room and Roman pool. $157 through July 31. www.ihilani.com, 679-0079. Spa concierge, 679-3321.

Terrace view for $195: Royal Lahaina Resort's terrace-view room rate is $195 per night, through June 12. Book by May 31. www.hawaiihotels.com.

Festive theater: Waikiki Nei, a Las Vegas-style theatrical production, creates a journey through the history of Waikiki. The 80-minute show will feature dancers, live musicians, acrobats and actors, as well as cutting-edge lighting, sound, stage machinery and automation. Following each night's show, the Waikiki Nei Theatre will transform into a contemporary nightclub and ultralounge featuring a 4,500-square-foot dance floor, DJs, aerial acts, model servers, interactive tables and a 7,000-square-foot lanai with an outdoor bar and cabanas. Waikiki Nei will open at the Royal Hawaiian Center at the end of June.

Wooing Korean travelers: Starwood Hawaii's Korean-language site includes hotel information, a booking engine, guest room descriptions and images, a photo gallery and live webcams of Waikiki hotels. The site will expand this year to include pages with information about Starwood hotels on Maui, Kaua'i and the Big Island. Starwood's development of the Korean site anticipates an increased interest in travel to Hawai'i by South Koreans once South Korea joins the Visa Waiver Program, expected by early 2009.

Shopping discount: Ohana Hotels & Resorts in Waikiki rates start at $89 through June 7. Guests also receive a $15 shopping credit for each night they stay at any one of Ohana's five Waikiki properties. The credit can be redeemed at 13 stores and eateries in Waikiki. www.ohanahotels.com.
