Kona outage affected 1,400 customers

A 53-minute outage today affecting 1,400 Hawaii Electric Light Co. customers in Kailua Kona from Ali'i Drive to Lunapule Road was caused by underground cable failure, officials said.
The outage started at 1:14 p.m. The problem was with a cable near HELCO's Kona baseyard.
