Advertiser Staff

Big Island police have initiated a coroner's inquest case in connection with the body of an opihi picker found Saturday in the Honokaa District.

The victim has been identified as 37-year-old David M. Davis of Kailua-Kona. Fire Department personnel found his body at the bottom of a 300-foot cliff near Kukaiau Landing in the vicinity of the 33-mile marker of the Hawaii Belt Road.

Police found no evidence of foul play. An autopsy is scheduled for today.

The Criminal Investigations Section is continuing the investigation.
