Hot indie band-of-the-moment Vampire Weekend is scheduled to perform July 29 at Pipeline Cafe. Tickets go on sale Saturday at all Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com or charge by phone at 1-877-750-4400.

The band's afro-pop-influenced rock started as an Internet viral sensation, gaining popularity primarily through blog posts before hitting the big time in other non-virtual circles.

Vampire Weekend crept onto the rock charts in 2007 with its first single, "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa," and solidified its spot in the indie rock scene as a legitimate band with serious musical chops with its self-titled debut album, which dropped early this year.

"Spin Magazine" called Vampire Weekend the best new band of 2008 just three months into the year, and it was the first band ever to be photographed for the cover of the magazine before the release of its debut CD.
