Maui's Cyr still in contention at NAIA golf championship

Point Loma Nazarene University junior Sam Cyr, a King Kekaulike graduate, shot a 1-under 71 to slip into second place after today's third round of the NAIA Men's Golf Championship at Indiana National Golf Club in Plymouth, Ind.

Cyr, who was tied for first after the second round, has a three-round total of 6-under 210. Cyr, last year's NAIA runner-up, trails Nick Zappin of Johnson & Wales (Fla.), yesterday's co-leader, by two strokes. Cyr is a two-time NAIA Region II winner.

Point Loma Nazarene is seventh in the team standings at 893. British Columbia leads at 864.

The four-day tournament ends tomorrow.
